The VW 80000 standard was jointly developed by Audi, BMW, Daimler, Porsche and Volkswagen. Based on the LV124 template, it is specifically designed for the environmental and electrical performance verification of automotive electrical, electronic and electromechanical components under 3.5 tons. It simulates the complex working conditions that may be encountered during vehicle operation and is crucial for ensuring the adaptability and durability of electronic components.

  • Neutral salt spray, 5% NaCl solution, pH 6.5-7.2;
  • Temperature: 35°C ±2°C
  • The spray deposition rate is approximately 1-2 mL/80 cm²·h;
  • The test duration varies according to the specification, commonly 24 hours, 48 hours or longer cycles.

Equipment recommendation:

Wet heat cycling and Constant wet heat test (K-08/K-09/K-14)

Test objective:

To simulate a high-temperature and high-humidity or frost-covered cycle environment, and to examine the insulation, component performance and durability of electronic components under humid conditions.

Take K-08 as an example:

  • 6 cycles, with each cycle lasting 24 hours;
  • High temperature 55°C, maintained for 12 hours ±30 minutes, humidity ≥90% - 100% (≥90% for the initial and final 15 minutes, 93% ±3% in the middle section).
  • It takes 3 to 6 hours to cool down to 25°C, and the humidity is ≥95%.
  • The entire cycle lasts approximately 24 hours.

The frost test (K-09) incorporates a low-temperature stage in some cycles to trigger internal condensation. The entire process may meet requirements such as 240 hours and 10 cycles.

Equipment recommendation:

LIB TH series constant temperature and humidity test chamber. The temperature range can reach -20℃, -40°C, -70℃ to +150°C, and the humidity range is 20% to 98% RH. It features programmable cycling and supports customization of rapid rise and fall and frost protection functions. The control system has an accuracy of ±0.5°C/±2%RH, meeting the strict cycle requirements.

Thermal Shock Test (K-12/K-13/K-16)

Test objective:

To evaluate the mechanical stress and functional stability of the component under conditions of rapid alternations of cold and heat and in combination with water spraying or immersion.

Similar to LV124/K-05,

  • At a low temperature of -40°C, hold for 15-20 minutes;
  • High temperature +85°C, held for 15 to 20 minutes;
  • The conversion time between chambers is less than 30 seconds;
  • The number of cycles is often 50 to 100 times.
  • If it contains water spray impact (K-12), it should be combined with water mist or spray during the cold and hot switching stage.
  • If immersion shock (K-13) is involved, water tanks should be equipped in the low-temperature or high-temperature zones to achieve direct immersion and simultaneous temperature shock.

Equipment recommendation:

LIB thermal shock test chamber, with two-stage temperature zone rapid switching and high temperature control accuracy; It can be integrated with a spray device or water bath device to achieve cold and hot shock band splash/immersion tests, meeting the requirements of cycle times and conversion rate.

Rain /IP protection Test (K-10/K-11)

Test objective:
To verify the sealing performance and functional stability of the component under conditions of dew, rain exposure and high-pressure cleaning, and to meet the IP grade requirements.

  • IPX1 - IPX6K: Simulate raindrops and sprays at different tilt angles and water flow rates;
  • IPX9K: High-pressure hot water jet, water temperature 80°C to 100°C, pressure 80-100 bar, flow rate 14-16 L/min, nozzle distance approximately 0.1-0.15m, test duration about 30 seconds per side.

Equipment recommendation:

LIB IP series rain test chamber, covering multiple modes from IPX1 to IPX6K; The LIB IPX9K high-pressure rain test chamber supports high-pressure hot water injection. The flow rate and pressure are adjustable, fully meeting the requirements of high-pressure cleaning tests.

Condensation Test (K-15)

Test objective:

To simulate the condensation process caused by temperature fluctuations in the vehicle interior environment and evaluate the moisture resistance of electronic module seals and components under moisture condensation.

  • First, it was pre-treated in a dry environment (such as 55°C/≤20%RH) for 24 hours,
  • then stabilized at 25°C/93%RH for 1-2 hours, and condensation was formed during the rapid heating process.
  • Multiple cycles can be repeated to test the effect of long-term condensation.

Equipment recommendation:

The LIB constant temperature and humidity test chamber can be optionally equipped with a dedicated condensation device (the water tank evaporates to generate saturated moisture and the cooling is cut off). Through temperature rise control, a repeatable condensation cycle can be achieved to precisely verify the anti-condensation ability of components.

Solar Radiation /UV Aging Test (K-17)

Test objective:

To simulate the long-term photoaging effects of ultraviolet and visible light on plastic parts, coatings and packaging materials, such as discoloration, cracking and decreased mechanical strength.

Xenon arc lamps or UV fluorescent lamps simulate the solar spectrum. The irradiance is set according to ISO 4892-2 or ASTM G154 (such as light intensity 0.35 W/m²@340nm). The cycle includes irradiation, rain exposure, dark phase, etc., with a total duration of hundreds to thousands of hours.

Equipment recommendation:

LIB UV/ xenon weathering test chamber, featuring multi-stage cycle programming, automatic water spraying or misting functions, control of radiation intensity, temperature and humidity, customizable test conditions, and accurate assessment of material weather resistance.

Dust Test (M-03)

Test objective:

To simulate the intrusion of sand and dust or particles in a factory environment, and verify the reliability of the equipment's sealing performance and functions in a dusty environment.

According to IEC 60529 or relevant specifications,

  • When the dust particle size is <75μm, the circulating dust-blowing or sandblasting method is adopted.
  • The wind speed and concentration are adjustable.
  • The test duration ranges from several hours to tens of hours to test the performance of the components under dust deposition or continuous blowing.

Equipment Recommendation:

LIB Dust Test Chamber, supporting controllable dust concentration and circulation mode. The chamber is designed with dust-proof sealing and can be connected to power or communication interfaces. It can monitor the test status in real time to ensure accurate assessment of the dust resistance of components.
