Dust environment is a highly challenging natural condition. If electronic devices, vehicle components, communication terminals and military equipment are exposed to dust, fine powder, blowing sand and other environments, their performance is easily affected. To ensure that products still operate stably under extreme conditions, enterprises must introduce dust tests during the product design stage. By using the Dust Test Chamber to simulate the dust invasion in the natural environment, it is an indispensable verification method in current international quality control.

Among various testing standards, the IP protection level test defined by IEC/EN 60529 and the dust test of the MIL-STD-810 are the most representative. They correspond to the strict requirements for dust resistance in the consumer electronics and military manufacturing fields.
IP Dust Protection Level Test: Interpretation of IP5X / IP6X standards
IEC/EN 60529 defines the protection level of the enclosure against foreign objects (Ingress Protection, abbreviated as IP). Among them, the dust protection of the enclosure is divided into two levels:
IP5X - Dust-proof type: Dust can enter to a certain extent, but it cannot interfere with the normal operation of the equipment;
IP6X - Dust-proof type: Completely prevent dust from entering.
The IP Dust Test Chamber for this standard after the test by LIB has the following core technical parameters:
| Chamber volume | 800L, 1000L, 1500L and other sizes are available for selection, and more sizes can be customized |
| Dust type | Dry talcum powder, particle size ≤ 75μm |
| Air flow speed | 1~2 m/s (adjustable) |
| Dust blowing circulation mode | Built-in blower system and vibration feeding device to ensure uniform dust suspension, O-type dust circulation system |
| Control system | touch screen, supports program editing and test data recording |
| Chamber internal pressure regulation system | Simulate the pressure difference between the enclosure and the external environment to meet the IP6X requirements |

The IP dust test chamber of LIB is widely used in the dust resistance level assessment of lighting equipment, cameras, mobile phones, car headlights and other electronic products, helping customers quickly complete CE certification or third-party IP test certification.
MIL-STD-810 Dust Test: Meeting military-level strict challenges
MIL-STD-810H Method 510.7 is the environmental adaptability test standard set by the US military for land, air and sea equipment. The dust test in this standard is divided into two procedures:
Procedure I (Dust Blowing Test): Use fine dust (such as silicon powder or dust) to simulate the penetration and blockage of dust on the equipment in a dry, high-temperature and high-speed wind environment;
Procedure II (Sand Blowing Test): Use coarse-grained sand (150~850μm) and direct high-speed wind to impact the test sample, simulating the mechanical wear and surface protection ability of the product in the desert combat environment.
Procedure III (Dust Falling Test): Used to study the impact of dust reduction on equipment in areas with almost no air flow and where dust can accumulate for a long time.
